Private-Cloud Infrastructure for Online Technical Education
The Infrastructure Gap: What Online Education Programs Experience

Your Private Cloud,
You own the Curriculum.
LabScale provides & operates the physical hardware, think servers, network appliances, and isolated student environments.
Your faculty design the labs. Your students access them on their schedules. You maintain complete control over your curriculum.

Built on Enterprise-Grade, Open-Source Technology.
LabScale’s infrastructure runs on Proxmox Virtual Environment, an enterprise-grade open-source virtualization platform trusted by thousands of organizations worldwide.
No vendor lock-in. No proprietary limitations. Just enterprise-grade infrastructure that scales as you grow.
Three-Phase Process
Step 1: We Provision Your Private Cloud
When you partner with LabScale, we allocate dedicated infrastructure for your institution. This is a process that can take time and may be multiple conversations between your team and our team.
An example of what we allocate to you would be a number of physical servers forming their own private-cloud environment, the applicable role-based access for your students & faculty, as well as management access for those who need it. Role-based access for faculty will have permissions to create the environments and virtual machines your students need.
Your infrastructure is completely isolated from other clients by using VRF multi-tenancy. Think of it as your own private datacenter, accessible online.
Timeline: TBD
Step 2: Your Faculty Design New Labs
Once your private-cloud is provisioned, your faculty may request training on how to use the platform, including documentation and best practices. Below are examples of what faculty can do with your newly provisioned private-cloud:
- Deploy VM templates for student use.
- Build virtualized networks to match your curriculum (eg. in GNS3).
- Create isolated course environments.
- Set up automated VM provisioning.
You maintain 100% control over:
- Assignment structure, complexity and difficulty
- Assessment criteria
- Academic integrity measures
Timeline: Ongoing, evolves with curriculum
Step 3: Students Access the Private-Cloud
Students log into your specific LabScale portal using institutional credentials (SSO integration available). They see VMs assigned by faculty and are able to access those VMs in seconds.
Student Workflow:
- Open web browser
- Navigate to your college’s LabScale portal URL (example: example.labscale.io)
- Log in with your credentials.
- Students can now access their dedicated VMs.
LabScale will handle escalated technical support cases, Infrastructure uptime and monitoring, Security and isolation enforcement, Capacity management, and Platform updates / maintenance.
Timeline: Semester-long, 24/7 student access
